My goal as a therapist is to assist clients as they step onto a new path that will lead them to a fulfilling life that brings joy, compassion, nurturance, and safety. Life will always present challenges but when we feel confident in ourselves, our relationships, and our ability to cope and weather the storms, our wellbeing will thrive.

I focus on working with individuals who identify within the LGBT2SQIA+ community. I provide sexual and gender identity affirming therapy that acknowledges the trauma that stems from systemic oppression, discrimination, and lack of inclusion/representation for the queer community. Together we can work on queer identity development, navigating queer relationships and intimacy, queer family building and parenting, finding community, and healing from trauma stemming from queer identity. We can also explore coping with anxiety and depression, understanding our attachment styles, unpacking childhood trauma, and building healthier boundaries with ourselves and others.

Many models of “couples therapy” do not always account for the diversity and uniqueness of queer love. I provide partner therapy for queer relationships, including polyamory/ethical non-monogamy. Together we can address relationship issues including communication, conflict, and sex/intimacy concerns without forcing your relationship into traditional models or binaries. 

I use different therapy approaches and find a style that best serves each of my clients. I predominately utilize narrative therapy, Gestalt therapy, attachment therapy, Internal Family Systems therapy, and cognitive-behavioral therapy. With any approach, my focus is to help clients examine issues/problems that are present in their life, identify how their lives are being impacted, and find new paths forward that promote growth, health, and happiness. I offer a challenge and support role in that I ask clients to consider new perspectives, alternative considerations, and ask them to push themselves and step outside their comfort zones, but I am always by their side with empathy, compassion, and support. I believe that all of my clients are capable of achieving the growth that they desire. 

I have educational degrees in Psychology, Education, and Child Development in addition to my education and registration as an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor. I have prior experience working as a therapist for individuals impacted by domestic violence. Before transitioning to the mental health field, I worked in higher education providing advising and support to college students. Outside of work, I enjoy the simple life with my wife and our fur-babies and can usually be found cooking, reading, gaming, playing softball, or planning my next getaway to the mountains.
